What Services do you offer?
Women's Health Care, P.C. provides a full range of obstetric and gynecologic care services. We address the health care needs of women from adolescence to post-menopause. For those in their reproductive years, we offer comprehensive care from pre-conception to post-delivery. Women's Health Care, P.C. employs a highly trained staff utilizing the latest medical technology including 3-D ultrasound and laser surgery to provide the optimum of care. Are you accepting new patients?
Yes, we area currently taking new patients. There is presently no waiting list for new patients.

How long of a wait is it to schedule an appointment?

How long has Dr. Calvert been in practice?
This is one of many questions that patients typically ask when determining whether a particular physician is right for them. Others are, "How old is he?", "How long has he been in practice?", " and "Where did the Doctor get his degree(s)?" In Dr. Calvert's case, we can tell you that he received his undergraduate degree from Stanford University, obtained M.D., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees from Baylor University, was a professor at Baylor, and has been in practice for over 25 years. Is Dr. Calvert compassionate and does he have a good bedside manner?
Many patients have legitimate concerns about the care, attention, and consideration they receive from their physician. Dr. Calvert is generally very highly regarded by his patients. He is detailed and thorough and takes all the time necessary with each individual that he sees.

How is Dr. Calvert with young patients?
He is very conscientious of young people's privacy and, since many young women may be unfamiliar with certain medical matters, he is oriented to educating the young patient.

Does Dr. Calvert like to prescribe medication rather than find the root of the problem?
While prescription medications are a legitimate and important part of medical practice, Dr. Calvert is committed to treating the whole person and dealing with the source of problems. He is very thorough and detailed in his examinations. In the words of one of his staff, "He is one of the most intelligent doctors I have ever worked for."

Does Dr. Calvert make you feel at ease, does he listen to your complaints, and does he explain what he is going to do?
Dr. Calvert and the staff of Women's Health Care, P.C. are committed to making patients feel as comfortable as possible. Toward that end, a great deal of time and effort has gone into making the office environment inviting and comfortable. On a one-to-one basis, Dr. Calvert also recognizes that part of good medical care is being a good listener. He is very attentive to his patients concerns and explains each phase of the examination before proceeding.

I'm pregnant and want to know what medication I can take for a cold, cough, sore throat, or headache.
There are a number of medications that are effective and appropriate for a pregnant woman experiencing minor illness. However, each pregnancy is unique and each woman has special needs and medical considerations. Therefore, it is important you consult your physician, nurse practitioner, or certified nurse-midwife. Patients of Dr. Calvert's or Women's Health Care, P.C. should feel free to call one of our staff at (918) 749-0804 to address their questions.

Can I tan on a tanning bed or get in a sauna or hot tub?
Generally, these activities are thought not to be advisable during pregnancy but again, it is important that you consult your physician or nurse practitioner about your specific situation.

Can I get a perm while pregnant?
There is a difference of opinion on this issue and this question should be answered in direct consultation with your doctor or nurse practitioner.

Can I play tennis, jog, run, or exercise?
It may be appropriate to engage in some form of an physical activity that one was involved with prior to pregnancy. As with all these issues-diet, illness, recreation, and exercise-specific advice from your doctor or nurse practitioner is required.

Is it safe to smoke or consume alcohol during pregnancy?
Studies have shown that smoking and alcohol consumption during pregnancy can be detrimental to the development of the fetus. Consult with your doctor or nurse practitioner about handling these situations.
